🏳️🌈Tracing the arc of Boston Pride’s history
Join us Thursday, May 29 at Porter Square Books for a timely and reflective conversation with Daniel Joseph Gonzalez, author of The Rise and Fall of Boston Pride. He will be in conversation with Matisse DuPont, Director of Engagement & Advancement at The History Project.
Presented by Porter Square Books and The History Project, this event explores the complex, vibrant, and often contested history of Boston Pride — from its grassroots beginnings in 1970 to its disbanding in 2021 amid calls for accountability and change.

The Rise and Fall of Boston Pride is the first full-length book to document every year of Pride in Boston from 1970 to 2024, weaving together archival research, personal stories, and the broader history of LGBTQ+ activism in the city.
Come learn, reflect, and be part of the conversation about where we’ve been—and where we go from here.
