Join Gay & Lesbian Review editor Richard Schneider and literary editor Martha Stone for a conversation about the history of the Gay & Lesbian Review and the publication of their book In Search of STONEWALL: The Riots at 50 The Gay & Lesbian Review at 25, Best Essays, 1994-2018.
The year was 1994. It was the 25th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots and, as luck would have it, the year in which The G&LR (known then as The Harvard Gay & Lesbian Review) published its first issue (Winter ’94). The fact that The G&LR’s first year coincided with the Stonewall Riots 25th forever joined its fate with that of the founding event of the modern LGBT movement. In Search of Stonewall is a rare and important collection of essays about the aftermath of the riots in New York City and across the US, and brings together many of the major LGBT writers and activists of our time in an authoritative collection on the signal event of the modern LGBT movement.
Doors and reception at 6:00pm. Reading and discussion begins at 6:30.
