The History Project invites you to a PINK TEA* to celebrate our 40th birthday!

The History Project turns 40 years old this month! We hope you'll join us to celebrate how far we've come, take a look at what the next forty years has in store, and gather with the friends and supporters who make our work and our history possible.

Join us for a pink drink, hors d'ouevres, and a slice of pink cake!
Featuring some Pink Tea Fun Facts shared by Etiquetteer, Robert B. Dimmick.

Pink attire encouraged but not required.

*DID YOU KNOW...?

  • The term "Pink Tea," or pinktea, is defined as "an afternoon tea marked by high decorum"
  • The term was first used as an event for the Women’s Christian Temperance Union in 1886, a cause dear to the real-life Carrie Nation’s heart
  • It was a term often used for upper-class homosexuals, but not always nicely
  • Pink parties with all-pink food were also popular in the mid-century, including the "Pink Lady cocktail"
