History Project Receives Staffing the Humanities Grant from Mass Humanities

BOSTON, MA (JULY 22, 2022) The History Project (THP), Boston's LGBTQ+ community archives, was recently named as one of 11 recipients of a Staffing the Humanities grant from Mass Humanities.

THP has a deep commitment to providing free and low-cost public programming exploring the history and stories of Massachusetts’ LGBTQ+ communities throughout the year. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, most THP programs have taken place online and these virtual programs have helped THP reach new audiences. This funding from Mass Humanities will help THP continue this expanded humanities programming through 2023.

"A central part of our mission as a community archives and history organization is to share the stories of LGBTQ+ Boston with our community," said Andrew Elder, chair of THP's board of directors. "This funding from Mass Humanities and the Mass Cultural Council supports our humanities programs staffing and is so vital to our success. Their support will help us continue to grow and to offer engaging, insightful, and fun events for our community."

Established in 1980, The History Project is the only organization focused exclusively on documenting and preserving the history of Boston's LGBTQ+ communities and sharing that history with LGBTQ+ individuals, organizations, allies, and the public.
